commonly used blasting methods in open-pit mining

Classification of blasting methods

In open-pit mining, commonly used blasting methods are as follows:

According to the blasting delay time classification: simultaneous blasting, millisecond blasting, millisecond blasting.

According to the blasting method classification: shallow hole blasting, deep hole blasting, chamber blasting, multi-row hole millisecond blasting, multi-row hole millisecond extrusion blasting, charge pot blasting, external application blasting, hole by hole initiation technology.

Five commonly used blasting methods

Shallow hole blasting

The diameter of the hole used for shallow hole blasting is small, generally about 30~75 mm, and the depth of the hole is generally below 5 meters, sometimes up to 8 meters. If drilling with a rock drilling trolley, the hole depth can be increased.

Application:

Shallow hole blasting is mainly used in the production of small open-pit mines or quarries, coadit, tunnel digging, secondary blasting, new open-pit mountain package processing, the formation of hillside open-pit single wall trench transport path and some other special blasting.

Deep hole blasting

Deep hole blasting is a blasting method that uses drilling equipment to drill deeper holes as the charge space of mine explosives. The deep hole blasting in open-pit mine is mainly the production blasting of bench. Deep hole blasting is a widely used blasting method in open pit mine. The depth of the hole is usually 15 ~ 20m. The aperture is 75~310mm, the commonly used aperture is 200~250mm.
