Screw air compressor fault alarm cause analysis

There are signs of screw compressor failure, such as abnormal sound, high temperature, oil leakage and increased oil consumption during operation. Some phenomena are not easy to detect, so we need to do our daily inspection work. The following is a list of the causes of malfunctioning alarm and handling measures during the operation of the unit.
Common alarms during the use of screw air compressor.

Oil filter: impurities in the air are sucked into the compressor when the unit is running and cause dirty blockage of the oil filter, so that the pressure difference between the front and rear of the oil filter is too large, and the lubricant oil cannot enter the compressor according to the normal flow rate to cause high temperature failure of the unit. So when the inlet and outlet oil pressure difference exceeds 0.18MPa, the filter element should be replaced in time.
Fault alarm of oil-gas separator: The compressed air coming out from the head of the air compressor will carry part of the oil. Large oil droplets are easy to separate when passing through the oil and gas separation tank, while small oil droplets (suspended oil particles below 1um in diameter) must be filtered through the micron and glass fiber filter media layer of the oil and gas separation cartridge. When it is too dirty, it will affect the wetting cycle and cause overheating shutdown. Generally, it can be judged by the differential pressure before and after loading. When the differential pressure at both ends is 3 times of that at the beginning of opening the air compressor or when the differential pressure reaches 0.1MPa, it should be cleaned or replaced in time.
Low oil level means that the oil level in the oil-gas separator is low and no oil can be seen in the oil level meter. Diligent inspection found that the oil level is lower than the lower end of the inspection tube should be immediately replenished. The operation process below the middle of the oil level is also to be replenished in time.
Poor heat dissipation: oil quantity and oil quality are not normal.
Adding and unloading exceeds the operating pressure of the unit.

Screw air compressor unit running at high speed for a long time is prone to oil aging and coking, poor lubricating oil circulation, filter clogging, compressed air containing too much water and oil, high temperature shutdown and other problems, mastering common troubleshooting measures can help us shorten the overhaul time.
